Weekly Chapter 3/3
Yoongyo effortlessly extended his arm, gripping the dagger, without even glancing in its direction. With a smooth, almost instinctive motion, he swung the dagger’s handle outward, making the weapon appear as though it were a natural part of his body.
A subordinate, who had approached him, took the dagger from Yoongyo’s hand. The exchange seemed like a practiced, routine gesture between the two.
She sat on the dirt ground, completely immobilized—unable to move her hands, feet, or any part of her body. Her only option was to stare at Yoongyo, who was obstructing her view.
“What about our baby’s prenatal education? I need your cooperation,” he said.
She noticed a man slumped on the ground between Yoongyo’s legs.
“Stop talking nonsense,”
Using his shoe, Yoongyo lifted the man’s chin. Her gaze shifted to the man lying on the ground, his eyes unfocused and pleading for help. He clutched at his neck, trying to stem the flow of blood. This man, who had once approached her menacingly, now lay in a pitiful state, his bloodied hand reaching out to her for salvation.
As Yoongyo knelt down to her level, she saw his face more clearly. He blocked her view of the lifeless man behind him.
“Choi Jumi,”
She stared at him, frozen. When he reached out and his familiar, large hand cradled the back of her head, her heart melted, flooded with warmth. Startled, she blinked several times.
Jumi reached out to touch his face, tracing his red lips and the sharp bridge of his nose. His passionate gaze never left her. Only when she felt his distinct features with her own hands did she truly believe it was him. He was her man.
She wrapped her arms tightly around his neck, clinging to him. His hand rested on her hip, while his arm firmly encircled her waist.
“You’re going to fall. Hold me tighter,”
Jumi tightened her grip around his neck.
“Why are you here?” she asked.
It felt like an eternity had passed, yet dawn had not arrived. Under the pitch-black night sky, they had tracked the automobile that had kidnapped her, finally arriving at this place. The entire ordeal had taken only three or four hours.
“I was worried about my fourth daughter,”
She knew he referred to her as his fourth daughter. No matter how many children they had, Jumi would always remain his child, holding a special place in his heart.
His subordinates had been busy closing new business deals, but Yoongyo had clearly put everything on hold to find her. She hugged him tighter, knowing he was a man who never felt the need to explain or defend his actions.
Behind Yoongyo, she saw Cheolju and his men handling the aftermath of the situation.
When Gwangmyeong extended his hand, Cheolju handed him a dagger. Gwangmyeong grabbed the hair of the blood-soaked man—the same one who had been taunted earlier.
Gwangmyeong drove the dagger into the man’s mouth, slashing his tongue repeatedly. Still unsatisfied, he plunged the dagger deeper into the man’s throat. Jumi buried her face in Yoongyo’s shoulder, unable to watch.
Unconscious men were loaded into the trunk of Yoongyo’s automobile. She assumed they would be taken to a secluded location to be dealt with.
“Didn’t you care about prenatal education?” she asked.
“I think that’s enough,” Yoongyo replied.
Yoongyo’s idea of prenatal education was beyond belief. His cold voice cut through the night as he added,
“This has only just begun.”
