Weekly Chapter 3/3
“Looks like there was a traffic accident nearby.”
Jumi’s eyes grew wide. She looked at her watch impatiently.
Soon the event would begin.
She had promised to arrive early, but the traffic jam caused her to be late.
Jumi arrived later, exiting the automobile in a hurry as if she were being pursued.
She hurriedly opened the door to the auditorium. The children danced to the nursery rhyme while the parents watched the stage intently. Some people were recording videos.
Jiho was nowhere in sight. It seemed that his turn had not yet come. As she searched for an empty seat, she saw a familiar face in the audience.
A man caught her eye.
He said he was busy with work, so she thought he wouldn’t be able to attend. He hadn’t contacted her this morning either. Amidst the parents clapping for their children, the man leaning against the backrest with his arms crossed was noticeable.
Yoongyo gazed at the stage with the focus of someone watching a business presentation. Not even a smile appeared on his face. He had a stern expression.
When the song changed, children in different clothes came out from the stage. They were younger than the children who had danced before.
The children wiggled their tiny hips to the beat of the song. Jiho was among them.
His gaze turned to Jiho. What father could look at his son with such seriousness?
She thought his attention was only on her, but it turns out that as a father he also had his attention on his son. Although he had a frown, his lip was slightly curved.
Jumi sat down on the empty seat next to him. His lips parted as he still looked at the stage with his arms crossed.
“What parent watches their child’s show with that face?”
She was grateful he had come.
The boy who looked exactly like Yoongyo, lost his balance for a moment. The child didn’t shed a tear when he fell; instead, he courageously stood back up.
It was adorable.
She cried with happiness. Additionally, she was carrying another baby.
With tears in her eyes, Jumi glanced at Jiho and noticed Yoongyo watching her.
“I didn’t expect you to come today.”
“I wrapped up work early. But why were you delayed?”
“There was a traffic accident on the road.”
Again his eyes turned to the stage.
But she found Yoongyo’s intense focus on the stage incredibly attractive.
What am I thinking about? Calm down, calm down.
Jumi averted her gaze from him.
“Your gaze is hot.”
Yoongyo had sensed it. He was attuned to every detail, even her physical condition. Anyway, she couldn’t hide anything from him. Yoongyo could sense everything.
“Don’t look at me anymore because my mind becomes more complicated.”
“I don’t.”
“I’m not dumb. Don’t get caught, Jumi.”
She tried to regain her composure. When she decided not to look at him again, a warm hand reached into her dress. Jumi, who had been startled, grabbed his hand.
Their gazes met again. Yoongyo smiled. It seemed untrue that just a moment ago he was looking at the stage with a stern expression.
Fortunately, the place was dark.
She murmured,
“Do you feel embarrassed by Jiho?”
Yet his reply was audacious,
“How about doing something incredibly embarrassing?”
