Weekly Chapter 3/3
“How can you talk like that about the baby I’m carrying?”
“You asked me to speak to the baby you’re carrying.”
“But not to say those things… Ah!”
Jumi tried to kick him, but her wh0le h#l3 was s#cked out. Her head fell backwards.
Sweat began to appear on her neck. It was a dangerous sign.
She knew how it would end.
Yoongyo left only after she cried herself to sleep.
***
The past before Yoongyo met Song Hayoung.
Thick cigarette smoke filled the warehouse. The day was cloudy. Recently, some guys had been snooping around his territory. It looked like someone was coveting it.
Cheolju offered him the decapitated head.
Yoongyo, who looked at the blood-covered head, exhaled a puff of smoke. When the smoke touched the decapitated head it soon disappeared.
“Myunghwan did it.”
“Clean up the mess.”
“Understood.”
Yoongyo extinguished his cigarette and exited the warehouse.
President Kwon was involved with a woman. He didn’t remember her name.
“Song Hayoung, don’t you want to meet her?”
A gentleman who had reigned in this world, now lived as a man who lost his head over a woman. It was nice to see him.
His dress shirt smells like blood, so he told Gwangmyeong to bring him a new one.
Then he headed to the hotel where he was supposed to meet President Kwon.
The President seemed cheerful. He didn’t care whether his boss had a romantic relationship with a woman or not, the problem was his pesky words.
“Yoongyo should have a girlfriend soon. That’s what worries me the most.”
“Are you drunk?”
Kwon laughed quite a bit because he was in a good mood.
“Iām leaving the country tomorrow.”
“You’ll be busier when you return.”
“I always have been.”
“I have to leave.”
President Kwon stayed with Hyunsik while Yoongyo entered the waiting automobile. Gwangmyeong, sitting in the driver’s seat, looked at him.
“Would you like to have a drink?”
“With you?”
“Forgive my boldness. Please forgive me.”
Yoongyo laughed.
“Do you have love problems?”
“How do you know?”
His expression said it all. Yoongyo lit a cigarette.
“You can do it alone, but don’t fall asleep on the street again.”
“Yes. Thank you!”
Yoongyo walked into the house. The air was cold. An emptiness void of any presence. Love meant nothing to him.
He took off his tie sitting on the couch.
It was a routine he knew well. The scent of blood seemed to cling to him. Yoongyo lit a cigarette, its glow the only light in the darkness.
Who could ever fill the void in his life?
