Absolute Threshold — Chapter 129. Crash

Weekly Chapter 1/3
Even Jumi realized that the automobile crash was intentional.
Gwangmyeong exchanged glances with Yoongyo.
“Jumi, hold on tight.”
Gwangmyeong repeatedly crashed into the automobile in front until a space eventually appeared. Meanwhile, Heedong, sitting in the passenger seat, urgently called for help on his automobile. The street became loud with noise.
Two automobiles trailed behind them. Rain began to fall from the dark clouds.
Jumi’s heart raced, feeling as though it might explode from her chest. Meanwhile, Yoongyo appeared unfazed, as if this wasn’t his first time experiencing such a situation. Heedong, on the other hand, was preoccupied with exchanging details over his mobile with someone.
“Send one more automobile. We need to evacuate Jumi.”
It seemed they planned for her to come back.
“You want me to run away? I don’t want to abandon Yoongyo.”
“No. I just want you to be in a safe place.”
“That’s running away.”
“Jumi.”
She clung to her suit with teary eyes. It was a dangerous situation she had imagined in her head after meeting him. Her worry had come true.
She didn’t know what to do. Would she escape to protect her children, or stay with him even if it meant her own death? Despite deep reflection, she couldn’t reach a decision.
When Jumi brought her ear close to his chest, she could hear his heartbeat. Despite the risk of her own death, she wanted to remain by his side.
Jumi hugged him. She would never leave him.
She glanced up, but his voice issued chilling orders.
“Don’t let them escape.”
The number of automobiles trailing them had significantly grown. Though it appeared to be a chase, it was actually a scheme to lead the prey into a trap.
When the automobile reached the quayside, the automobiles that followed them blocked the exit route. There were surely many people inside the automobiles.
“Heedong.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll take Jumi to the automobile we have prepared.”
She wanted to follow Yoongyo, but Heedong blocked her.
“Return to a safe place first, Yoongyo will come to see you later.”
“Wait, Heedong.”
Jumi grabbed Heedong’s arm with a tearful face. The depth of the sea, engulfed in darkness, was immeasurable. She was more frightened.
After the rain ceased, the only thing left was the salty scent of the sea.
Jumi was sitting on the concrete steps, hugging her knees and looking down at the ocean water. She should have gone home, but she didn’t want to.
She had been evacuated to a nearby quayside. She was told to wait quietly in a safe place, but it looked like she had fled. That’s why she felt bad.
Heedong, who was keeping watch, walked over to her.
“It’s only crumbs.”
“……”
“Yoongyo has done wonderful things, this situation is ridiculous.”
Jumi knew he was used to these situations. She assumed that Yoongyo had gotten involved personally due to the crash involving the automobile she was in.
She felt more anxiety. Even though his hands were covered with blood, she decided to take them. She just prayed that Yoongyo would not be hurt.
“Please protect my husband.”
