Weekly Chapter 3/3
Jumi picked up her mobile. In the recent call logs, Yoongyo stood out prominently. Even before she got married, there was never anyone really close to her. Her family was unconventional, so she didn’t have many friends. She maintained a certain detachment from others to keep her father’s profession a secret.
Her life belonged to Yoongyo. Even though she never intended to let it happen, this man had glimpsed every detail of her life, including her personal information. She trusted him. After she got married, she felt she was dependent on him. Every choice she made and every move she took were shaped by Yoongyo’s influence.
Jumi felt a surge of anxiety. She felt her hands were bound by unseen shackles. However, it was not only her body that was trapped; her mind was also in a prison. She was ensnared in a maze of invisible walls, with no means of escape. Only Yoongyo could occupy that space and help her find her way out.
Previously, she would call her friend Hyesun, even in the early hours of the morning. However, after they both started families, they no longer contacted each other at any hour.
Now that the children were asleep, she had no one to call.
Jumi looked around. The man should have been by her side, but his spot was vacant. An eerie silence filled the room.
She looked at the clock. It was 6 o’clock in the morning.
Jumi ran to the drawing room. But that place was empty too.
Yoongyo had not returned during the night.
He hadn’t said anything to her.
“Mom.”
She ate breakfast without him. Her son, Jooho, appeared in the drawing room. It appeared he had stepped into the drawing room in search of his mother.
“Jooho.”
He snuggled into his mother’s arms. Jooho enjoyed his mother’s embrace.
“Where is dad?”
“Dad is so busy that he left almost immediately after arriving.”
Although she missed him, she made an excuse to Jooho.
She spent her morning without Yoongyo. This only happened when he was on a business trip. Regardless of how hectic things got, they always made time to talk on the phone.
Last time someone stabbed him with a knife…
Jumi shook her head. It was impossible for such a strong man to die. She hurriedly tried to make a phone call, but her cell phone was off. If Yoongyo was at the hospital, Cheolju would have come to get her.
She did not know what had happened.
After the children left for kindergarten, she got ready to head to her coffee shop. While putting on her dress, she heard a sound from the drawing room. Since the cleaning lady wasn’t coming today, she figured Yoongyo must have arrived.
Jumi approached him like a child eager to see her father. Thankfully, he seemed unhurt, and she breathed a sigh of relief.
“I was worried because I hadn’t heard from you.”
“There were some issues.”
Something felt different. He was wearing a different dress shirt. Though puzzled, she said nothing. Yoongyo often changed his shirt due to various activities, so it seemed plausible.
“You look exhausted.”
“I don’t think so. You’re probably more tired from waiting for me.”
Yet, Jumi still had her doubts. Perhaps he had seen another woman.
