Weekly Chapter 4/5
Eunha handed the letter to Sir Song. Her eyes were as red as a rabbit’s, leading him to believe that something terrible had occurred.
“What is it?”
“I heard that some merchants will soon be traveling through Harye. I will send my sister with them. Please deliver this letter to them.”
Sir Song sighed. It was a risky choice.
“Do we really need to do this?”
She shook her head as she looked at Yongi with Yuljae.
Her cold body had warmed up, so her cheeks turned red.
“I’m not sure either. But there’s no one in Harye I can trust except you. Even the courtesan house owner tried to kill me…”
“It’s my fault for letting you meet Jihak.”
Eunha shook her head.
“It is not your fault. If that event hadn’t occurred, my sister would still be a courtesan, and I would have lost her.”
Yongi’s face was perpetually shrouded in the shadow of death. She was afraid that something bad would happen to Yongi, for she would be left alone in this world.
Her eyes moistened when she saw Yuljae handed the jewels to Yongi. Her radiant smile resembled a flower bud that had just bloomed.
Yuljae, who handed the items to Yongi, picked up the cat hat lying on the floor. Then he cut the hat string. He threaded the double jade ring onto the string and eventually tied it around Yongi’s neck.
Eunha held her breath. Yongi’s eyes widened in apparent shock, while Yuljae, in contrast, withdrew with a nonchalant expression.
Yongi touched the double ring hanging on the string.
“You can do it.”
Then Eunha stood up. Yongi, who sensed her presence, approached Eunha.
“Goodbye… I will soon follow you. So don’t worry. I’ll always know where you are…”
“Don’t worry. Your Lord will help me. I’ll inform you once I arrive at my destination.”
“Really?”
“Yes. He also facilitated my travel with the merchants.”
Yongi hugged Eunha, who was surprised.
Sir Song let out a sigh as he observed the two women clinging to each other.
The bookshop was filled with the aroma of smoked tobacco.
—You’re just a useful toy for the Prince. Your job is to create a reason for his slaughter.
No. It was Shihoon who had lost his mind.
Eunha tried to erase Shihoon’s words from her mind.
Yuljae, who had stood at the entrance, winked at her.
The time had come to part ways.
After she asked Sir Song for one final favor, Eunha left the bookshop.
She didn’t cry anymore because she believed it wouldn’t be the end.

“You came back.”
Kim looked relieved. Eunha headed to his quarters with an umbrella. Gari emerged from Jihak’s room with a sheepish expression on her face.
“Did you have a good farewell?”
“Yes, Gari.”
“My Lord is not there.”
“Where is he?”
Gari didn’t answer, just looked back.
Eunha walked toward the backyard with a smile.
Muddy water splashed with every step.
It was a slander. Her mind knew it, but her heart did not want to accept that fact. She wished someone would tell her she wasn’t bait.
She hoped that the feelings Jihak had shown so far were not a lie.
—I will give you my affection.
Eunha arrived in the backyard with a frustration in her chest. She found Jihak standing under a huge pine tree. He had no umbrella. He bent down to look for something.
There was a small cat curled up there. Eunha was briefly taken aback when she saw him gently reach out to the cat.
But the cat didn’t come near him, so he stood up. His body was soaked from the rain. That showed how long he had been in the rain.
Suddenly, Jihak turned to her. When their eyes locked, her heart began to race. She slowly approached him with the umbrella.
“I’m back.”
He reached under the umbrella.
“You certainly took your time.”
