Weekly Chapter 3/6
Eunha was neatly dressed. She lived a strange few days. Quiet but uneasy. It was uncomfortable because nothing important happened those days.
But four days later, everything had changed.
Eunha, who went to Jihak’s quarters to read a book, felt her heart pounding when she was told to get ready to leave. It was because she thought that in case she was lucky she could meet Yongi.
The smile did not leave her face as she got ready.
She was sure that her sister was safe.
She wondered if she had the box with the money.
There were many things she wanted to ask her sister.
But the first place Jihak visited was a fabric store. She was surprised when Jihak asked her to order cotton clothing.
“The cheapest fabric. You don’t even need to add cotton. Please…use the cheapest one.”
The owner looked at Jihak at the entrance with a worried face at Eunha’s whisper.
“But you recently asked me to choose the most luxurious fabric…”
“That’s money I have to pay back.”
“But that’s not expensive for someone like him.”
“I feel uncomfortable.”
Sadness appeared on the owner’s face, perhaps because she thought she might make a good profit for the first time in a long time. Eunha, who looked sideways at Jihak, led the owner to the place where the cheap fabrics were.
Jihak, who was watching Eunha talking to the owner, approached. The tall man bowed his head as he stroked the silk near Eunha.
“You are very noisy.”
Eunha raised her head in surprise at the voice that came from above.
His shadow cast over her.
“My lord, I need clothes that are comfortable. Luxurious fabrics…”
“That’s an absurd excuse.”
“It’s true. Besides, I’m not used to them.”
“But don’t plan to wear men’s clothes. I don’t like it because I feel like I’m hugging a man.”
Eunha, who took a deep breath, looked at the owner. It was clear that she had heard what Jihak said. The owner looks away with an embarrassed expression on her face.
He put his arm around Eunha’s slender neck.
“It’s the clothes you wear, but it’s the fabric that touches my skin. So don’t think nonsense.”
The breath that touched her skin was hot. Eunha nodded as she turned to the mistress. Jihak, who chose the fabric the owner recommended, walked towards the entrance. He waited for her as he took her body measurements.
“…Who is he? I’ve never seen him before.”
“He’s not from here.”
“I heard that Yongi is no longer a courtesan. I thought you two had escaped to another place.”
“You haven’t seen my sister?”
“I haven’t even seen her nose.”
After the owner measured Eunha’s body, she wrote down the price to Yuljae.
Eunha left the store with Jihak. The streets were crowded with merchants who had set up shop to sell their items.
Although it had been a long time since she had seen the streets so crowded, Eunha was eager to visit the bookstore. However, Jihak slowly walked down the street.
Eunha, who was worried about returning to the mansion without visiting the bookshop, suddenly grabbed Jihak’s clothes.
“Can I go to the bookshop?”
Jihak briefly looked at her hand.
“Are you in such a hurry?”
“Yes. I want to hear from my sister. Maybe she left me a letter there…”
He was curious too. He thought her sister would look for her when she left the courtesan house, but Yongi disappeared as quickly as possible.
Although it was better that Yongi had disappeared.
Jihak silently grabbed Eunha’s hand. She was surprised, so she tried to pull her hand away. But Jihak held her even tighter.
“People are watching us…”
“I’m blind, so you are my guide… I’ll close my eyes from now on, so guide me carefully. Let’s go to the bookshop.”
