Weekly Chapter 1/6
Eunha, who returned to her room after Jihak asked her to hunt together, was surprised when she saw her new clothes sorted out. The men’s clothes were not so small. This meant that these clothes were made to fit her body.
After she was kidnapped, she was not allowed to leave. Eunha was not even allowed to leave her room after dark. Gari told her that even Sir Song, the book shop owner, was denied access.
She was only allowed to go out to the back mountain.
The first one up the mountain, she thought about Jihak. When she saw the fear on his face that she would disappear, she felt her desire to leave was cruel.
The Prince was in a position she could not reach. But she was curious, why did his eyes seem so warm? Her heart was so tight that it would be more comfortable to risk her life to lure a tiger.
She climbed the mountain every day to feel more stable.
Once Eunha was prepared, she tried to smile as she looked at her face reflected in the small mirror.
Jihak must have seen her with her usual facial expression.
The easiest path to freedom is trust. I could act freely because my father trusted me. I want to calm this situation.
Sohyeon asked her to persuade Yongi not to misunderstand her intentions.
Eunha was able to learn what had happened outside. The longer her sister stayed close to Young Master Shihoon, the deeper the misunderstanding would become. She had so far ignored the dynamics between the two genders.
She inhaled deeply before exiting her room.
“This way.”
A warrior waited for her. The place the warrior went to was the armory located behind the building. It was a place she normally couldn’t enter because it was locked.
But today the door opened.
There were many weapons in the armory, it looked like they were preparing for a war.
Eunha swallowed saliva as she looked at the huge wooden bow hanging behind Jihak’s back. It was the wooden bow that killed the house-sized tiger. Her body still stiffened when she thought about that day.
“You know how to handle a rifle, right?”
Jihak held out a light weapon to her. Eunha was so surprised that she couldn’t grab it.
“What do you want to hunt?”
“I don’t know yet.”
“I’ve never hunted for fun. I only hunted animals that were a danger to the town.”
Jihak laughed at her hesitant attitude.
“Do you believe the reason is significant?”
“What?”
“Two-facedness. To hunt is to end another individual’s life. It doesn’t matter what the motive is. You die or the other individual dies. That’s just it.”
Eunha took the rifle he gave her. A fierce weapon that could end anyone’s life. She recalled the caution from the hunting chief that an inadvertent trigger pull could result in the death of an unintended victim.
She followed Jihak out. The escorts followed them until they reached the forest. Yuljae remained at his side.
The forest where the sunlight had disappeared there was still snow. They passed the place where the boar that Jihak killed a while ago was lying. The mountain had her footprints on it because she climbed it every day.
But Eunha had the feeling that someone was watching them. If she was aware of their presence, they should be too.
She looked around with a stern expression.
Jihak laughed because she was nervous.
“As I expected, it’s funny.”
