Eunha decided not to think too much about it, so she placed the beoseon in the basket. It was time for lunch. Gari, who had placed the food on the soban, approached her to take the basket from Eunha.

“Why are you doing this?”

“I washed my clothes too.”

Eunha looked at the soban where several dishes were. Her mood declined when she saw her dishes placed on the soban itself. The conversation she had with him last night stuck in her heart like a thorn.

“An event will happen tonight. Almost all the warriors have disappeared. The atmosphere unmistakably feels like war.”

Gari enthusiastically lifted the soban.

The armory was open, several horses were tied up in the front yard, and the warriors wore red military uniforms rather than black ones.

“I have brought the soban. Eunha is here too.”

Gari opened the door but stopped in shock. She went for the sword Jihak was holding. He was wiping the blade with a cloth. He was wearing a blood red robe.

“Come in.”

He put down the sword to grab the soban.

“This is not your job.”

She also sat in front of the soban.

“Where were you?”

She cut the pan-fried battered beef over the rice. She reluctantly took the spoon. Jihak, who did the same actions, said,

“I’ll be away from home for a few days.”

“Yes. But first we’ll go somewhere else.”

“Is it dangerous?”

Jihak turned his head toward the window when he heard the warriors’ shouts.

“Are you worried?”

“That seems like a dangerous situation.”

“Today may be the last time we sit on the soban.”

“What…!”

She was so surprised that she dropped the spoon. Jihak laughed when he saw her reaction, picked up the spoon from the floor, placed it on the soban and stroked her cheek.

“Relax, I’m just joking.”

“Jihak! Please don’t make jokes like that. I have only one life.”

“You’re adorable.”

Her lips tightened at the unexpected comment. She slowly shifted her gaze. A red hanbok, a sword and his sangtu had a dragon embroidered on it.

Eunha couldn’t say anything else.

“I’ll come back because I want to look at your expression.”

“I don’t understand what you mean…”

“Remember me every day.”

Eunha’s head tilted up slightly as he gripped her chin with great force. Then he leaned forward to kiss her on the forehead.

“What do you plan to do in my absence?”

“I want to write.”

“Write?”
