Weekly Chapter 2/3
A few other employees and executives greeted them as they headed to the elevator. Once in front of the elevator, Lee-Seob pressed the button to call it. As they got on, they nodded in greeting to the people inside.
Minkyung stood close to Lee-Seob, determined to retrieve her glasses from his pocket at any opportunity. He pressed the button for the lowest level of the basement parking lot.
The elevator stopped first in the lobby, then on the third and fourth levels of the basement parking lot. When they were finally alone in the elevator, Minkyung stealthily reached into his pocket.
“Ah.”
She let out a small exclamation of surprise. She tried to retrieve her glasses by the ends that were left visible in his pocket, but instead her hand was caught. When the elevator arrived at his destination, Lee-Seob got off with her hand held.
“Director, Director.”
She hurried to match his pace as she called him softly. His driver, Mr. Kim, was waiting for him outside the elevator area. She tried to twist her hand free, but Lee-Seob held it tighter and walked forward. He had no intention of letting her go.
Mr. Kim bowed to greet Lee-Seob, but when he was about to bow to Minkyung as well, he hesitated.
‘Gosh…! He must think we’re holding hands like a couple!’
She couldn’t look at Mr. Kim’s face. She wanted to close her eyes and disappear.
“Where are the car keys?”
Lee-Seob extended his free hand. Mr. Kim placed the keys in his palm, but his eyes never left their intertwined hands.
“Where’s the car parked?”
“Right in front, sir.”
“Okay, you can go home now.”
“Yes, Director.”
As Mr. Kim bowed to leave, Lee-Seob added,
“Please control your facial expression.”
“Oh, yes. Pardon me, Director.”
Mr. Kim looked so nervous that Lee-Seob frowned slightly and asked,
“Mr. Kim, you didn’t know?”
“Uh, uh… no.”
Minkyung’s eyes widened at Mr. Kim’s response.
‘What did he mean by ‘no’?’
Mr. Kim flinched as she made eye contact with him. Minkyung couldn’t hold back any longer and asked,
“Director, what did you mean by that question?”
“I just wanted to know if he had noticed that we’re dating…”
Minkyung couldn’t believe what Lee-Seob had just said, her mind went blank. The timid Mr. Kim began to stammer out an explanation,
“Actually… I had noticed it, director. I said no because my nerves betrayed me.”
Minkyung finally composed herself, exhaled sharply and tilted her head,
“When, how, and what made you think that?”
From their faces, both Lee-Seob and Mr. Kim seemed to think,
‘Is that important now?’
“I want to know if it was too obvious.”
Minkyung glared at Lee-Seob, who still had a ‘so what?’ attitude. She was sure it was his fault, which made her even more furious. She had constantly warned him to be discreet, but he didn’t take it seriously.
“Mr. Kim, please be precise. We need to avoid further complications.”
Her insistence made Mr. Kim’s face turn completely red.
“Senior Manager, well… I’m quick to notice… Honestly, it wasn’t obvious. You didn’t make any mistakes. You didn’t show any signs. Really. If anything…”
Mr. Kim clasped his hands together uneasily. Lee-Seob raised his hand to stop his fumbling explanation,
“Enough. Senior Manager Kang hid it perfectly, but I didn’t. It’s my fault.”
“No… it was rather the Senior Manager…”
Despite Lee-Seob’s attempt to resolve and put an end to the matter, the ever-honest Mr. Kim spoke the truth. Minkyung gaped at him in disbelief.
“Senior Manager, sometimes when the director talks in the car, you get a little shy, even your cheeks blush. Since you sit next to me while I drive, I can see it clearly.”
Lee-Seob’s expression remained calm, but Minkyung noticed how the corners of his mouth curved slightly.
