Weekly Chapter 3/3
‘Does that mean I was the indiscreet one?’
Minkyung found it simply absurd.
“Hmm… Could it be that you imagined it, Mr. Kim?”
She knew that Mr. Kim wouldn’t lie just to please Tae Lee-Seob, he wasn’t that kind of person. Or rather, he had not been born with the common sense to do so.
‘Did I really act like that?’
Unable to believe it, Minkyung stared intently at Mr. Kim. He continued his explanation earnestly,
“When the director teases you in the morning with that peculiar tone that throws anyone off, even when he greets you like that, you look away and a slight blush covers your face…”
“It’s normal. The Director is sometimes too mischievous.”
Minkyung’s excuse was pitiful compared to Mr. Kim’s confident statement. Mr. Kim let out a chuckle and shook his head,
“I remember when we first went to the director’s apartment, he wasn’t fully dressed, but you didn’t even bat an eye… Do you know what your nickname is, Senior Manager?”
‘Please don’t say more.’
She was already quite embarrassed. The moment Mr. Kim saw her frown, he took back his words,
“Sorry, I misspoke…”
Despite his attempt to back out, Lee-Seob’s curiosity was piqued,
“What’s her nickname?”
“Sorry, I don’t mean to be disrespectful.”
“It’s more disrespectful not to finish speaking. What’s the nickname?”
Now there was a disagreement between TK’s successor and a Senior Manager. No matter how oblivious Mr. Kim is, he couldn’t be so oblivious that he doesn’t know which side to listen to. Mr. Kim’s large eyes moved between Minkyung and Lee-Seob before he finally decided to speak,
“Well, it’s just a joke. It is said in a humorous tone that Senior Manager Kang is actually a secret AI developed by TK that pretends to be human. People believe that one day the truth will be revealed and TK’s stock will skyrocket.”
“Ugh!”
Lee-Seob made an effort to exhale in disapproval and show a cold expression. But then he burst into laughter.
“Hahaha!”
He hadn’t been able to contain himself any longer. He laughed so hard he bent over.
“A secret AI, huh?”
Lee-Seob composed himself after he laughed heartily and said sternly,
“Mr. Kim, I didn’t know you were a loose-tongued person. Are you really trustworthy?”
“I’m sorry. But I haven’t told anyone about you two. I swear.”
‘What kind of relationship is there between us two…?’
Unable to express her thoughts, Minkyung lowered her head. She was overcome with a mixture of embarrassment, shame, confusion and frustration. All these emotions turned into irritation directed at Lee-Seob, who deliberately held her hand.
“Okay, okay. Next time you’re behind the wheel, make sure you only look straight ahead. Senior Manager Kang will sit next to me.”
“Yes, Director. I promise.”
Mr. Kim bowed and walked away at a brisk pace. Minkyung was filled with a shame that made her want to crawl under a rock, and at the same time, she was filled with an annoyance that made her want to slap Lee-Seob, the man who had caused this situation.
This emotional turmoil was new to her. Minkyung exhaled slightly as she watched Mr. Kim’s back in the distance.
‘What’s done is done, now I must try to control my emotions.’
Lee-Seob clicked his tongue and turned to look at her. He then raised his hand and ran his palm across her cheek.
“Everyone will find out if you blush like that, TK’s secret AI. Beautiful nickname, haha…”
Minkyung shook her head, turned around sharply and began to walk briskly. Lee-Seob followed closely behind her.
