Chapter 138. Let’s Date (8)
Weekly Chapter 4/3
“If you don’t want to get in the car, we can walk somewhere. We have plenty of time.”
“Ugh.”
Annoyed, Minkyung stopped abruptly and stomped her foot.
“It seems there was an error in the AI. Stomping your foot in front of the Director, huh?”
“Maybe this AI doesn’t see you as a director.”
Contrary to her usual behavior, she lashed out in frustration. Lee-Seob reached out to gently turn her in his direction and responded mischievously,
“It’s natural that you don’t see me as a director, since you’re in love with me. Let’s get in the car. You can stomp your feet or argue further inside.”
Desperate to hide her face, she ran to the car, got in and slammed the passenger door. She covered her flushed face with her hands. Once Lee-Seob sat in the driver’s seat, he reached over to pat her head. She pulled his hand away without looking up.
“Am I that embarrassing? Are you ashamed to let people know?”
“What do you want to let people know?”
‘What are we, anyway?’
She swallowed that last question hard. She was aware that it could lead to a response about their relationship in which she would be hurt.
While she concealed her apprehension, she continued,
“Why did you do it? Why did you put me in such an awkward position?”
“I wanted to brag.”
“Huh?”
She looked up at him.
“I wanted to show off that I’m dating you.”
‘To Mr. Kim? You want to boast about having slept with me?! Ah, Tae Lee-Seob, your egomania knows no bounds. You have countless things to brag about, so why this? It seems like you don’t even see me as a person, but as just another prize.’
She felt so unappreciated that she almost cried. He tapped her parted lips with his index finger and asked,
“Didn’t you like it?”
“I could lose my job.”
“Mr. Kim will undoubtedly keep it a secret. Besides, he already suspected it. Didn’t you notice how visibly awkward he acted?”
‘Is he implying that I don’t pay attention…?’
Minkyung pursed her lips and looked away,
“It’s okay, I’ve been absent-minded and indiscreet. It’s all my fault.”
“I didn’t mean that. I’m sorry. I’m sorry.”
He caressed her cheek with his finger in an attempt to soothe her.
“Just drive anywhere.”
She turned her head further away. He tickled her ear gently and apologized for the third time.
“I’m sorry.”
“Just go.”
“I’ll take you to eat something delicious. You’ll see how it will cheer you up.”
After those words, Lee-Seob started the car. She was about to reply that it was impossible, but his sweet whisper in her ear appeased her anger. Once her heated head cooled down, she realized that her resentment might have been a bit unfair.
It wasn’t right for him to hold her hand in public without her consent, but the fact that he used it to confirm that Mr. Kim knew their relationship went beyond work and felt awkward about it, wasn’t entirely wrong. So what remained inside her was a shame she had to deal with on her own.
‘Gosh! I’m so embarrassed.’
She exhaled heavily and closed her eyes.
Before she knew it, they had arrived at their destination. Lee-Seob parked the car and said,
“We’re here.”
Minkyung got out of the car and looked around in confusion,
“Weren’t we going to have dinner?”
They were in Hongdae, a busy neighborhood in Seoul. She was surprised that he brought her here.
“Yes, that’s what we came for.”
He took her hand and walked.
