Chapter 139. Let’s Date (9)
Weekly Chapter 1/3
“Director.”
“Yes.”
“With so many photos out, people will recognize you…”
“Oh.”
He casually took out her glasses from his pocket and put them on.
“Better?”
Seeing him in her glasses was odd and funny. She stifled a laugh and said,
“Doesn’t it make you dizzy?”
“The prescription is mild.”
“Yes, I wear them because of slight anisometropia.”
He nodded and started walking quickly.
“We need to line up.”
“For what?”
“Tteokbokki.”
“Excuse me?”
He pointed ahead.
“There.”
The shop was decorated with pastel-colored wallpaper and small items. It exuded an Instagram aesthetic style. They were lucky to get one of the five tables soon.
As the mozzarella cheese melted over the bubbling tteokbokki, he served her a nice mix of rice cakes, fish cakes, and vegetables. It was sweet, spicy, and hot. Her tongue burned, but the cheese soothed it.
“Delicious? Enough to cheer you up?”
She didn’t respond, instead she picked up another piece of tteokbokki covered in melted mozzarella cheese with her chopsticks and popped it into her mouth.
The second time he served her, he put all the remaining cheese on. When she stared at the meticulous yet picky man for a while, he asked,
“What?”
“I was so angry, but now, with one bowl of tteokbokki, it’s all gone… I feel a bit resentful.”
“It’s okay if it’s not. I’ll keep buying until you feel better.”
“Yes, yes. AI has recorded it. You seemed so pleased when you heard that nickname earlier.”
“Pfft.”
He laughed, showing his teeth.
‘Did he know how beautiful his eyes were when he laughed like that?’
She reached out and removed the glasses from his face.
“Take these off. I can’t see your eyes well.”
She put them on, but he quickly took them back.
“You don’t wear them either. Your eyes are so beautiful.”
She was very weak to such sudden compliments. With her ears red, she lowered her head towards her food. In an attempt to pretend to be composed, she stuffed some rice cake and cheese into her mouth. However, it was very hot. While she fanned her mouth, he poured a glass of water and handed it to her.
She drank the cold water and looked at him again. This time, he handed her a folded napkin. She dabbed her lips gently, wanting to look pretty.
The tteokbokki quickly disappeared. True to its reputation, it was a satisfying meal. Minkyung finished two bowls, and Lee-Seob ate three.
“Now let’s go for dessert.”
He stood up first and extended his hand. As he displayed his chivalry, the women at the next table in the tteokbokki shop glanced at them. Their gazes fell on the model-like man.
Judging from their expressions, none of them recognized that it was Tae Lee-Seob. After all, why would TK’s Tae Lee-Seob be walking around Hongdae, sitting in a small tteokbokki shop?
Once she stood up, he let go of her hand naturally. But to his surprise, she clung to his arm.
“Don’t you like it?”
“Quite the opposite.”
He smiled broadly.
They walked arm in arm through the dark streets of Hongdae. The evening air felt warm, signaling the end of spring. The streets were full of people.
When she glanced up at him, he asked what dessert she wanted,
“Souffle pancakes, waffles or bingsu, what do you want?”
“All three.”
His eyes widened in surprise.
“It seems like you haven’t had time to enjoy delicious desserts lately, have you?”
“Yes, just thinking about it makes me feel sick.”
He planted a kiss on the top of her head.
“But if I have to decide on one, then pancakes.”
“Great, let’s have pancakes. There’s a famous place here.”
He didn’t hide his genuine desire to eat pancakes.
