Chapter 140. Let’s Date (10)
Weekly Chapter 2/3
After they enjoyed the fluffy souffle pancakes, Lee-Seob bought Minkyung a rich, milky soft-serve ice cream. As she slowly ate the ice cream, he carefully asked,
“About earlier, I didn’t expect you to get so angry. I’ve never seen that side of you before. Were you really upset?”
Minkyung glanced up at him and then continued to eat her ice cream with the spoon.
“I think so, but now…”
Minkyung made a movement with her hand as if an invisible structure had collapsed.
“Now there’s no trace of it.”
“Like a sandcastle?”
“Yes, maybe.”
After thinking about it for a moment, Minkyung added,
“Emotions scatter like grains of sand in the wind.”
“Aren’t you going to ask?”
“Ask what?”
“The reason why I did it so suddenly.”
“You said you wanted to show off.”
Minkyung replied curtly.
“I’ve always wanted to show off our relationship, but why did I step forward today?”
Minkyung shook her head. She didn’t want to know the reason. She knew Lee-Seob too well. He was sensitive and meticulous, never doing anything without a reason. She had been thinking about it all the way to Hongdae.
‘Why did he do that?’
Then she remembered that he had met with Director Tae Joon-Seob.
‘What did Joon-Seob say to him? How did he provoke this man?’
It didn’t matter what Tae Joon-Seob’s true intentions were, whether it was just a test or something else. While he was pushing to marry an ordinary woman, he may have determined who Tae Lee-Seob’s partner should be for his own benefit. Maybe he wanted him to marry an ordinary woman like his, or at the very least, make a mistake and not be able to marry an ideal woman, one whose family owned shares in the company. Whatever the case, Minkyung knew exactly what she had to do. The path she had to take.
With a soft smile, Minkyung spoke to Lee-Seob,
“Please don’t do that again. I beg you.”
Lee-Seob looked straight at her. Seeing his eyes made her heart ache for no reason.
“I want to stay with the company for a long time.”
Lee-Seob lowered his head and ran his hand through his hair before looking up again. His face was cold. She felt a pain in her chest, as if a needle had been stuck in her heart.
Minkyung spoke in a businesslike tone,
“I haven’t asked about Faubert yet.”
After the email sent by Director Tae Joon-Seob, she was really curious to know how TK Fashion would be involved with Patrick Faubert. She hesitated to ask until now because Lee-Seob hadn’t mentioned it first and she didn’t want to remind him of Joon-Seob. She didn’t know the exact details of their conversation, but she had hoped he would forget it.
However, in this reckless play with fire that worried Joon-Seob, Minkyung decided to face reality. There was no reason for everything to be consumed by the flames; what was not necessary was enough. Like awkward desires, ridiculous teenage feelings of romance, uncontrolled lust and so on…
“Faubert?”
Lee-Seob feigned ignorance.
“Director Tae Joon-Seob sent an email. The time and place for dinners with Patrick Faubert, as well as for meetings, have been set. It has been adjusted to our current schedule.
“Oh.”
He nodded, wiped his sticky hand with a damp tissue, then folded it carefully.
“Patrick Faubert wants TK Fashion to be part of the collaboration. He attached my photo with the blue jacket to the request.”
Minkyung dropped her ice cream spoon in surprise. She covered her mouth with her hand to keep from screaming in the ice cream shop. Lee-Seob looked at her quietly as she breathed heavily through her covered mouth.
“You seem really happy.”
“Yes.”
She pressed her tear-filled eyes with her hands.
