Chapter 143. What Did We Just See? (1)
Weekly Chapter 2/3
It was three nights. See-ah had barely slept for the past three days in order to meet the deadline.
“It was the toughest deadline in the last two years.”
Despite the dark circles under her eyes, her voice was filled with excitement. Minkyung followed See-ah, who staggered to her room.
“You’ve really worked hard. It must have been tough.”
This issue of the magazine was packed with content related to Tae Lee-Seob’s photo shoot, which had caused an unprecedented level of buzz. Additionally, Patrick Faubert’s interview had been scheduled just three days before the deadline, making the schedule even tighter.
“Minkyung, I still can’t believe it. My heart was about to burst at the exclusive interview with Patrick Faubert, as well as at the Tae Lee-Seob photo shoot.”
Minkyung accepted the hug from the disheveled and weary See-ah.
“I made sure to highlight the parts where Patrick mentioned the collaboration with TK in the interview. I also wrote in detail about the smartwatch. But what I put special emphasis on was TK Fashion…”
See-ah raised her hands and made double air quotes,
“I wrote sentences like, ‘The W Fashion magazine photos of Director Tae Lee-Seob were so impressive that it heightened expectations for the collaboration with TK Fashion’s Durell Homme brand’.”
See-ah rubbed her arms, shivering.
“I got chills while writing it. I felt so proud.”
“You deserve it more than anyone. It’s all thanks to you.”
“No way. It’s thanks to you that I can walk around with such pride.”
“You chose the outfits and the photographer. You made the photo shoot a success.”
See-ah shook her head vigorously,
“We all did well, but the best was Director Tae Lee-Seob.”
“That’s true.”
See-ah chuckled at Minkyung’s response.
“You two look good together. I imagined it quite a bit, but seeing it in reality was even better than I imagined.”
Since the day the shots were taken in the studio, this was the first time See-ah talked about the relationship between Lee-Seob and Minkyung.
“Our relationship is purely professional. There’s nothing else.”
“I’m very sleepy. I don’t even know what I’m saying anymore.”
See-ah lay down on the bed dressed.
“Okay, sleep. I’ll turn off the light.”
Minkyung flicked the switch on the wall to turn off the light. As she opened the door to leave, See-ah stopped her.
“Minkyung, come here for a moment.”
Turning on the lamp on the nightstand, See-ah patted the bed. When Minkyung sat down, See-ah turned to her side and said,
“Talk to me until I fall asleep.”
“About what?”
“I’m so out of it, like I drank three bottles of soju. I probably won’t remember anything you say. So, um… tell me. About you and that annoyingly perfect guy you’re dating.”
Minkyung let out a weak laugh.
“Just tell me a little bit. How’s it going?”
“I’m not sure.”
“Okay, okay. I expected that. You don’t have to say anything. I knew it would be like this.”
See-ah lay her arms under her head and looked at Minkyung with a pout.
“You never talk about your love life.”
“There’s not much to say.”
“What is this distance I feel? It’s like you want to push me away completely.”
See-ah’s joke carried a hint of true hurt. Minkyung covered See-ah with the blanket up to her neck,
“Previously we weren’t officially dating.”
“Oh, really? What about the guy? Isn’t he Tae Lee-Seob?”
“Hmm.”
Minkyung fell deep in thought. See-ah blinked slowly. The time her eyes remained closed became longer than when they were open.
“I’ll just say that if this is what dating feels like, I don’t want to go through that ever again.”
“Uh…”
See-ah murmured sleepily, her head slipping down as she drifted off.
“My heart… feels heavy.”
See-ah didn’t hear Minkyung’s words as she fell asleep. Minkyung set the lamp to its lowest brightness and quietly left the room.
