Chapter 207. More Than A Dream (1)

Weekly Chapter 5/7
Hearing the truth of her drunken antics directly from Henriad’s mouth, Shushu wanted nothing more than to bury her face in the clam chowder in front of her and die on the spot.
The promise she had made to Mini Cat on the first day—to treat her like a queen—was long gone, and instead, her treatment of Henriad had worsened to the level of treating him like a servant, or worse, a slave. He had taken care of everything—cooking, cleaning, laundry—while all she’d done was play the part of a neglectful landlord.
Imagining herself as an evil landlord whipping Henriad for her amusement, Shushu couldn’t bear the guilt any longer and slammed her forehead onto the table.
“I’m so sorry… I know I’ve said this a dozen times already, but I really mean it… I’m so sorry!”
“Why are you suddenly like this?”
“I’ve always been like this…”
“I know. But you look even more miserable than usual today.”
Henriad tapped his plate with his spoon, signaling her to explain herself. Shushu cautiously lifted her face.
‘Was it that obvious?’
Touching her cheeks nervously, she glanced at Henriad’s face. His expression was so calm, so normal, that it eased her anxiety.
‘It really must’ve been a dream. There is no way I could have made that kind of mistake, even drunk.’
Relieved, Shushu exhaled and straightened her posture, a smile returning to her face.
“No, I just had a bad dream…”
“Bad, huh?”
“Yes.”
Shushu left it at that, trailing off with a laugh. Even if it was just a dream, she wasn’t stupid enough to confess the details to the person involved. That would make things infinitely more complicated.
‘How could I even explain it? Well, in my dream, I mistook you for a man from my imagination based on your sister and… we… yeah.’
That would’ve been the sort of story you’d hear on a late-night radio show with a host gasping.
‘Oh my goodness, no way!’
Shushu resolved to take this secret to the grave—not just until her death but until the grass grew thick on her grave. At the very least, neither Mini Cat nor Henriad should ever find out.
Relieved that it was just a dream and convinced that her silence would keep it buried, Shushu sighed. Henriad, however, spoke again, his tone as composed as ever.
“Why?”
“Pardon?”
“Why was it bad?”
Blinking in confusion, Shushu looked at him. The man, who usually resembled a lounging cat, was now watching her with an unusually serious expression.
Not understanding his intent, she hesitated,
“What are you talking about?”
“Do you hate being bitten?”
“What? Why would you—”
“Was it bad because I bit your cheek?”
Henriad’s words were casual, but Shushu froze, her face filled with shock.
“W-wait, you… bit me?”
When would that have happened? Her mind reeled, but fragments of memory surfaced against her will. A faint recollection of him leaning in and…
Her face flushed red, then turned pale, and finally settled into a ghostly white, far paler than the clam chowder before her.
“M-Mr. Henriad bit me…?”
“Yeah.”
That casual confirmation sent a chill down Shushu’s spine. Henriad wasn’t the type to joke about things like this. If he said he’d done it, then it meant he had done it.
“When… When did that happen?”
Her voice trembled as much as her body, and she rubbed her clammy hands against her thighs in a futile attempt to calm herself. She knew she stood at the door to a truth she didn’t want to open, yet her instincts screamed that she had to know.
Facing the trembling Shushu, Henriad answered with unnerving calm,
“When we slept together.”
*Clang.*
The spoon slipped from Shushu’s hand, clattering against the chair and then the floor.
Amid the metallic echo, Shushu’s wide, trembling eyes met Henriad’s.
“No… no way…”
Henriad’s unwavering gaze held no sympathy, delivering his next words with devastating clarity.
“I mean, you and I had s*x.”
